Walking along, Tintin overheard the two island gate guards, Thomson and Thompson chatting amongst themselves.
Thomson : He told us we have consecutive letters on our papers
Thompson : Yeah he told me too.
Thomson : I don't know what your letter is.
Thompson : Neither do I know your letter.
Thomson : Now I know.
Tintin listened this conversation and wondered what the two letters could be. When he was about to leave the island, Thomson stopped him and told him to say the password, which were the two letters.
Maximum of how many attempts does Tintin need to make to have the correct pair of letters, and thus pass successfully?

Well, according to me.. The answer should be 2. Because.. according to the situations.. Only 2 cases are possible.. BC and XY.

I ALSO THINK ONLY 2 CASES ARE POSSIBLE 'X,Y' AND 'B,C'....

Wow.....I thought technothlon was to be given by high intellectuals.but after reading this I'm like......what??? I'm also angry that guwahati guys are using questions easily available online. I mean I already had seen this question online ( I'm crazy about solving puzzles ) .hope next years paper gives us something new.BTW , this years paper gave me a pretty tough time.& why isn't the result been posted yet ...it's 2 p.m.
